The Design Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end development of mechanical design solutions, including conceptualization, layout, detailed engineering, and final documentation. The role involves translating technical input from discipline leads, project requirements, and international codes into practical and manufacturable designs. The Design Engineer will work across multidisciplinary teams and support fabrication, procurement, and sales with accurate and optimized design deliverables.
Bachelor degree
Develop mechanical design concepts for projects including pressure vessels, skid-mounted equipment, piping systems, and structural elements.
Prepare layout, 3D models, GA, and detailed manufacturing drawings using 2D/3D CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
Apply relevant international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, TEMA, ISO) in all design work.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of design deliverables such as drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), weights, and specifications.
Review and incorporate design changes arising from internal teams, client feedback, and fabrication feasibility.
Perform basic engineering calculations related to stress, pressure, loads, and flow to validate designs.
Interface with project and discipline engineers to clarify scope and technical issues.
Support the drafting team by providing conceptual and detailed inputs to ensure accuracy in drawings.
Assist with pre-bid and proposal design inputs, layouts, and technical documentation for sales and tendering.
Ensure that all designs meet the company's quality standards, safety norms, and IMS (Integrated Management System) compliance.
Manage documentation and design backups in the project repository.
Contribute to design optimization, cost reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement.
Participate in internal design reviews, risk assessments, and client presentations when required.
Mentor junior designers/drafters and provide technical guidance on standards and practices.
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
6 to 12 years of experience in design engineering, preferably in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and skid-based equipment.
Proficient in using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
Familiarity with engineering analysis tools (e.g., PV Elite, Compress, CAESAR II) is a plus.
Good knowledge of materials, welding processes, and fabrication methods.
Strong understanding of design codes: ASME Section VIII, API, TEMA, IS/ISO standards.
Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
High attention to detail and self-driven approach to quality and accuracy.
Exposure to project lifecycle from design to fabrication.
Experience working in EPC or equipment manufacturing companies.
Ability to manage multiple design packages in parallel.
