Job Summary:

The Civil Lead Engineer is responsible for leading the civil engineering scope of a construction project, from design review through execution, ensuring technical soundness, regulatory compliance, and integration with multidisciplinary teams. This role involves providing technical leadership, coordinating site execution, ensuring quality control, and supporting cost, safety, and schedule objectives.

Primary Responsibilities :

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Design Review

  • Review and validate civil designs, drawings, and technical calculations.

  • Ensure all civil deliverables align with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

  • Contribute to constructability reviews and implement value engineering recommendations.

2. Team Leadership and Coordination

  • Lead and guide a team of civil engineers, draftsmen, and site personnel.

  • Coordinate closely with structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams.

  • Facilitate effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors.

3. Site Support and Technical Oversight

  • Provide hands-on technical support during construction.

  • Resolve engineering conflicts and approve site modifications in accordance with design intent.

  • Ensure clear interpretation of drawings and specifications by site teams.

4. Quality Assurance and Control

  • Review and approve construction methodologies and material submittals.

  • Conduct or supervise site inspections and material testing (e.g., concrete, steel, soil).

  • Ensure civil works meet established quality standards and specifications.

5. Schedule and Progress Monitoring

  • Support planning teams in defining civil work schedules and deliverables.

  • Track progress of civil activities against milestones and project timelines.

  • Address schedule slippages and suggest recovery strategies when needed.

6. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure that all civil works comply with HSE policies and safety regulations.

  • Participate in risk assessments and safety audits related to civil operations.

  • Foster a safety-first culture within the civil engineering team.

7. Cost and Resource Management

  • Contribute to the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and BOQs for civil components.

  • Recommend materials and construction techniques to optimize costs and timelines.

  • Review contractor invoices and validate claims related to civil scope.

8. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain up-to-date design records, change logs, and correspondence.

  • Provide input for project status reports, engineering reviews, and closeout documentation.

  • Ensure accurate documentation of as-built drawings and engineering handover.

9. Compliance and Permits

  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for civil works.

  • Coordinate with local authorities for approvals, clearances, and inspections.

  • Verify adherence to permit conditions and applicable construction norms.

  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, STAAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and project tools

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
